Age / appearance: Oh, only about a few million years old... except he thinks he's ~2040... except he looks to be in his early thirties...
He's a Robert Carlyle, okay? Shut up. He was Santiago Cabrera for a while there, though. Not to mention when he's Sharlto Copley.
History:
Personality: Explain the outward personality and inward psychology of the character. Should be at least a few good-sized paragraphs.

Powers: As the progenitor of the therianthropes in the world, Benjamin himself takes the form of a golden jackal. Being a werecreature, silver will burn on contact, although he's trained himself to be able to ignore it. Benjamin is a natural shapeshifter, which means he can be whatever the fuck he wants, whenever the fuck he wants, in whatever snappy outfit he wants because shapeshifters are too cool for actual clothes. This carries over into being a goddamn tank of armor if he hardens his skin. He literally cannot die, simply goes down with the wound and comes back up once it's healed.
Technically speaking, he is the elemental of Light, a dragon, but his abilities associated with this (such as being able to die) have been sealed away with his memories... because Nate is an asshole.

World history: What kind of world is your character from? This part can be short, but it must focus on the particular character's context. What was their world like, from their point of view?
The Last Line of Defense is one of the three major supernatural policing organizations (the others being Her Royal Majesty's Huntsmen in Europe and the Demon Corps. in Asia), in charge of all of North America and other UNNA territories. Benjamin is the current Director of LLD, having gained the title in 2000 after 27 years of service and the retirement of Thomas Hawkins' husband, Justin Hawkins. LLD is in something of a not-so-friendly rivalry with the Order, another branch of LLD that Benjamin considers superfluous and redundant, which is based in Canada. The fact that Michael and his son Maxwell run it may or may not have everything to do with the hostilities.
All elementals are dragons and all dragons are elementals. Aside from the necessity of Nate's existence to the universe, all of his children need to exist in some form or another as well. Dragons, when they die, are generally reborn into a different body somewhere else on the planet after hatching from their special dragon eggs. This usually takes some time for the bodies to be made, and the more often they die, the longer it takes. Nate, Michael and Benjamin are exceptions to this rule: Nate bypasses the egg stage entirely as the universe literally cannot exist when Nate doesn't; Michael and Benjamin were given a more conventional form of immortality as punishment.
• Nate Silverman: Elemental of Fire. God of the universe. Huge troll and something of a dick to everybody. Nate is Benjamin's father, and he loves his kids, but he's the kind of dad who would make you mow the lawn with your old push-mower instead of your perfectly good riding mower because it builds character. In reality, he is the first angel and represents rage; unknowingly to anybody ever, Thomas houses the soul of Alice Silverman.

They were both kind of dicks to each other, but since the universe revolved around their existence, neither of them could die. This proved bad when the mommy water elemental decided to screw over her husband's youngest children, the elementals of darkness and light, and turned them into psychopathic cannibals.
That didn't go over well, as you might imagine.
So then daddy fire elemental, Nate, managed to save his sons, Michael and Benjamin, and then punished them for being naughty little boys regardless of the fact that they were coerced into it thanks to mommy water elemental, Alice. Nate is kind of a dick like that. The punishment was to start their lives over completely with no memory of being dragons or all the things they did while suffering through eternal life. The twins were dropped off with a Middle Eastern woman to be their mother, sometime around 30 BC, and grew up thinking they were only a werejackal (Benjamin) and a vampire (Michael).
(Relatively soon after this, Nate went on a rampage and killed Alice as best he was able. Because he couldn't destroy her completely, he separated her soul from her elemental power and attempted to erase the personality from Alice's soul. This backfired when a creature made up of Nate's cast off rage came into being and became the vessel for Alice's soul—including the bits Nate tried to get rid of. This creature was later known as Thomas Hawkins, the first of many angels to come.)
Because of their unique gifts, the twins were welcomed in society as protectors. As he grew, Benjamin married and had children. Michael, rapidly growing jealous of his brother's life due to vampires' natural infertility, lured his brother away and ripped Benjamin's heart out in anger. Benjamin revived very soon after and, fearing he was a complete monster for being unable to die, ran away from his people without looking back. Around seventy years later, he wandered into Asia and used his therian abilities to drive off a weretiger from attacking a city. The local supernatural protection agency, the Demon Corps., did not like Benjamin getting all up in their territory and tried killing him.
That also didn't go over very well.
Seeing as they couldn't kill Benjamin, they took the unresisting man prisoner and used him as a guinea pig for how to stop other therian attacks. This carried on for nearly two hundred and fifty years until Benjamin took initiative to learn Chinese (overcoming language barriers takes effort) and figured out something incredibly vital: against his previous belief, not all therians were immortal like Benjamin was. Cue him losing any possible semblance of self-esteem he may have previously held. It wasn't until he had been with them for nearly five hundred years that the Demon Corps. headquarters came under attack — he aided the defenses of the base and was released from captivity in thanks. Instead of leaving like a sensible man would (you're looking in the wrong place for one of those, by the way), he stayed with the Corps. and had a child with one of the demon hunters, a baby girl named Inaya.
When she was still very young, Inaya died in a coup over the initiation of who would become the next Dragon Lord to lead the Demon Corps. (and was subsequently appointed Dragon Lady by their talking sword spirit, Luke) and Benjamin was aggrieved to learn that she had inherited his immortality and would now live forever as he did. Seriously, he was crushed. After this, Benjamin left the Demon Corps. to return to his wandering.
As it turned out, his timing was pretty poor. Benjamin stumbled into Europe and found out there was a war going on. He was soon discovered by a bunch of soldiers, but the language barrier proved to be more than a little detrimental. The soldiers called in a traveling storyteller to help translate. (BecauseNate is a dick fate is funny like that, the storyteller actually turns out to be none other than Thomas Hawkins. Not that Benjamin knew that at the time.) Thomas didn't know Chinese, but they found common ground in Arabic. It was something like King Arthur talking to Bill 'n Ted in terms of lingual drift, but it worked anyway and Thomas offered to take Benjamin to a therian village for safety. Once they arrived and Thomas was ready to leave again, he gave Benjamin a warning about the leader of the opposing vampire forces: Michael. This information inspired Benjamin to make a kamikaze run into the vampire fortress in hybrid therian form in order to try killing his brother and return the favor from over six hundred years ago.
Because it was a stupid-ass plan to begin with, the only option was failure. Benjamin was captured, monologued at and mocked by Michael and then tossed back out onto the street. It was only a setback: Benjamin, blinded by his rage and determination, tried again and again to storm the castle. After several lather, rinse, repeat cycles, he finally came up with the bright idea to use a little discretion and sneak inside instead! Lo and behold, using your brain comes with great rewards. Benjamin managed to kill Michael... only to learn that Michael was immortal, the very same as Benjamin. Understandably freaked out and outraged by the new knowledge, Benjamin fled to safety in order to figure out what the fuck.
